Gladiators

In ancient Rome one of the most popular things was gladiator fighting/coliseum fighting. People used to come from around the world to see certain fights. A gladiator fight is basically two gladiators(warriors) fighting it out to the death or to the point where the other person just gives up. All kinds of weapon were used, but a lot of gladiators used swords or knifes for tradition and honor.
A lot of people in Rome got very famous from these battles, and that's how you got to know some of them.

Ball Games

The Romans played ball games. Ball-playing was popular among the Romans, and they often spent their morning exercises playing games on the fields (palaestra) or ball-courts (sphaerista). The Romans played games like handball, trigon, soccer, and of course, catch.

ROME

Welcome to Ancient Rome. Rome began, around 1000 BC, as a settlement of farmers and shepherds in central Italy. Over the next thousand years, it developed into a powerful city-state, and became the capital of an empire that stretched from Britain in the north to Arabia in the southwest. Here in Rome, there is so much to do. A big part of Rome is their sports. What sports did the Romans play though?
